Living Jazz is searching for teaching artists versed in practices including but not limited to rhythm, choral, songwriting, dance, and body percussion. Openings are for grades TK-6th, depending on the educator's comfort levels. This position offers a competitive rate and possible access to a budget for instrumentation. Schedule and school choice is based on your availability and convenience. We are hiring for immediate positions for fall programming.

DUTIES:
Provide music education to a diverse body of students representing the full spectrum of ethnic, social, economic backgrounds in East Bay public schools.
Communicate reliably and consistently with LJCP staff via email, phone, and in person.
Prepare students for final assemblies, videography projects, and donor visits, depending on need.
Duties consist of approximately 70% teaching, 20% preparation and development of programs, and 10% meeting with LJCP staff.

Founded in 1984, LJ currently operates five programs that reflect its commitment to serve people of all ages, economic and cultural backgrounds. These include Jazz Camp West, a nationally acclaimed jazz immersion program for teens and adults; Jam Camp West, a music, dance and vocal program for 10-15 year olds; The Living Jazz Children’s Project, a free in-school music education and performance program; Jazz Search West, a series of adjudicated competitions providing professional development opportunities to emerging local artists; and “In the Name of Love” the East Bay’s only non-denominational musical tribute honoring Dr. King, Jr. and celebrating the talents of local artists in a themed program highlighting social justice

Salary: $75.00 per hour
