Background
Our mission: The Crucible inspires creative exploration and expression through welcoming, hands-on arts education and experiences for people of diverse ages and backgrounds. As an innovative hub built around the industrial arts, The Crucible is a catalyst for individual growth and vibrant community connections. In addition to supporting working and emerging artists and art students, The Crucible has become increasingly focused in recent years on supporting career pathways into the arts and the industrial trades, and support access to our programs for BIPOC youth and families, especially those from West Oakland. Want to work in a quirky, joyful place focused on the arts? Reach out to us to learn more!
Position Overview: The Development Manager, Campaigns & Events oversees and coordinates The Crucible’s giving campaigns and events throughout the year. In this role, you will work with the ED and the marketing team to plan, schedule and execute direct mail, social, email and peer giving campaigns that fundraise for youth scholarships and other community programs. You will also oversee and manage end-of-year campaigns that provide critical fundraising support for Crucible operations and handle messaging and mailing. Working with the marketing team on video content and collateral, and on regular newsletters and mailings are core parts of the role. The Development Manager, Campaigns & Events also oversees and produces free and ticketed events to support fundraising at The Crucible, both virtual and IRL. These events can range in size from 20 attendees to 250; they include our signature program, The Crucible Soirée in April, and also the GIFTY Member night in December. This role also helps to support our Membership program and pricing, working with a team on membership acquisition, list management, renewals, and engagement.
In this role, you will also be responsible for managing relationships with reps from our giving donor platforms, keeping our data up to date, and working with our development associates to input gifts into our Salesforce donor database and make sure that our gift processing is accurate and timely, as is our acknowledgment, and benefits fulfillment. You will be working with and helping to build and track the fundraising budget, with a focus on individual donors, membership, event sponsorship, and events.
This is a great role for someone who has expertise in fundraising campaigns and event planning and management who would like to consistently support a mission-driven community non-profit without committing to a full-time role. Your work will play a vital role in empowering our distribution of more than $130,000 in scholarships and free programs every year and supporting community outreach programs.
